London Irish Amateur believe that rugby is a game for everyone, so much so we are one of the few clubs to actively promote girls rugby. As a result, the success of the clubs girls teams are a credit to the players, and coaches.
John Flynn, Girls Rugby Manager and Head Coach explains:
"A number of years ago we at London Irish noticed that we had quite a few girls playing rugby in our mini section who had no place to go to play rugby once they turned 13.
As a result we began a program to not only retain the girls who were playing in our minis section but to expand their numbers.
So much so that we now have two very successful girls teams, who have won many competitions over the last few years.
Not only do the London Irish girls play for the club, many represent Surrey County, and the South Region. We are proud to say that a number of our U18’s have made it to the RFUW (RFU Women) U18 Talent Development Group.
We are delighted with the commitment we get from the London Irish girls sides and we look forward to expanding it further."
Both the under 18 and under 15 girls train and play on Wednesday and Sunday.
